Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

499 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to having a new school built (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19996/01]

In view of the large number of school building projects currently being processed by my Department, it is not possible at this point to give an indication as to the timetable for the provision of improved accommodation at the school referred to by the Deputy.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

500 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress in relation to a submission from the Convent primary school, Thomastown, County Kilkenny, regarding its concerns and fears about the proposed location of a school site; if the proposal for an alternative site has been examined; if so, if the findings will be made known to the schools concerned; if he or his officials will immediately arrange a meeting with both schools to discuss the issues and bring the matter to a conclusion; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19997/01]

My Department has requested the prop erty management section of the Office of Public Works to acquire a site for a new primary school building in Thomastown. The acquisition of a site has not yet been finalised. However, the school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
