Vol. 540 No. 2

Written Answers. - Third Level Education.

Seymour Crawford

Ceist:

256 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has examined the potential of St. Patrick's Agricultural College, Monaghan with a view to having the property used as a third level education centre; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that County Monaghan has one of the lowest participation rates in third level education and that the third level outreach facility has not been put in place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20425/01]

The needs of County Monaghan as well as other areas will be considered in the light of my plans to strengthen the education base in regions which are not well served at present and to establish effective links with higher and further education institutions. In this regard, there is no proposal under consideration in my Department at present in relation to St. Patrick's Agricultural College.
