Ceist:200 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was refused permission to plant trees on his land. [21308/01]
Written Answers. - Afforestation Programme.
An application for grant aid for afforestation of an area of 23 hectares was refused in respect of this case in May 2001 for environmental reasons. Following an appeal by the applicant and subsequent correspondence with Dúchas, formal approval issued to the applicant on 20 September 2001 subject to the exclusion of an area of 4.2 hectares which forms part of a special area of conservation.
