Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Criminal Prosecutions.

John Bruton

Ceist:

853 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to a report on 26 November 2000 in a newspaper (details supplied) which suggested that there is significant evidence that there was a miscarriage of justice in regard to the conviction of a person on a charge of murder; and if any action is being taken to remedy the situation. [21059/01]

I am aware of the report referred to by the Deputy. However, as this case is currently before the courts, the Deputy will appreciate that, under the sub judice rule, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further on the matter.
