923 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of staff employed by the Land Registry Office in 2001; and the plans he has to employ further staff to deal with the backlog of applications. [22165/01]
I am informed by Land Registry Management that the present authorised staffing for the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds is 607 and that on 1 October 2001 there were 589.5 staff serving. I understand that sanction has been granted to increase the authorised number by 19 extra temporary posts. Recruitment to fill these posts is under way.
