Vol. 543 No. 4

Written Answers. - Palliative Care Report.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

108 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps he is proposing to take to ensure that there are no turf wars in the implementation of the report of the national advisory committee on palliative care. [27405/01]

The report of the National Advisory Committee on Palliative Care sets out the framework by which palliative care services can be advanced though partnership. I am fully committed to encouraging every possible co-operation between voluntary and statutory health sectors. It is important to combine the respective efforts of the voluntary and statutory sectors with a view to developing palliative care services to meet the challenges of the future in an efficient and effective manner, and in an atmosphere of mutual support and understanding.
