Vol. 546 No. 3

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

264 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding the proposed improvement works on Liffey Bridge, Leixlip, County Kildare; the work to be carried out; the cost of the work; and the likely timescale. [31572/01]

I understand that Kildare County Council is at present considering tenders for this scheme and will be submitting it as part of its application for funding in 2002 under the EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme. Applications under the scheme will be considered in my Department, having regard to compliance with the eligibility criteria, the need to prioritise projects, competing demands from other local authorities and the funding available for the scheme in 2002. I will be announcing the 2002 non-national road grant allocations early next year.

Details of the works proposed for this project, and their cost, may appropriately be sought from Kildare County Council.
