Vol. 546 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

69 Mr. Wall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of grants paid by her Department to a company (details supplied) in County Kildare over the past number of years; the amount of grants paid; if the grants have been repaid; and if it is feasible for her Department to recover the grants due to the fact that a receiver has now been appointed to the company. [31712/01]

Peerless Rugs have received assistance from State development agencies since 1973. A total of 31 grants has been paid to the company and these grants amounted to 1,843,897. In cases where there was a contingent liability on grants paid, this liability has expired. Therefore, the question of recovering or repaying moneys does not arise for this company.
