221 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the situation in relation to her Department's involvement with a company (details supplied); if her attention has been drawn to the concern of consumers at the increases in charges in the past few years; and if Departmental approval to the price increase is sought, granted or necessary. [2325/02]
My Department receives regular briefings from the company in relation to the development of services and matters affecting the cable television industry in general.
While I am aware of the concerns that consumers have with regard to the price increases I have no function in this matter. Any price changes are subject to the regulatory framework operated by the Office of the Director of Telecommunications Regulation, ODTR, who approved the recent increases following a public consultation process.
