Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

344 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when payment in respect of beef premium will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [2229/02]

The person named submitted three applications for the 2001 special beef premium scheme in respect of a total of 15 animals. There is no record of an area aid application form having been received from the person named for 2001 and consequently the stocking limit for the year is limited to 15 livestock units. After taking into account the milk quota of 17,912 gallons, there is no livestock unit entitlement available for special beef premium purposes.

The reckonable livestock units are obtained in respect of each calendar year as follows:

Male cattle up to and including 24 months on which Special Beef Premium and Bull Premium is claimed

0.6 Livestock Units each

Male cattle over 24 months old on which Special Beef Premium is claimed

1 Livestock Unit each

Ewes on which Ewe Premium is claimed

0.15 Livestock Units each

Suckler Cows

1 Livestock Unit each

Milk Quota of 876 gallons

1 Livestock Unit each

The livestock unit value of milk quota is obtained by dividing the producer's milk quota in respect of a given calendar year by the national average yield per cow for that year, or by the recorded average milk yield per cow for the year where the producer is in an official milk recording scheme.
