Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Reliefs.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

417 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the status of a job assist application by a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1815/02]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer applied for the revenue job assist tax credit in December 2001. One of the conditions of the revenue job assist scheme is that the employment being taken up by an unemployed person must be capable of lasting at least 12 months. The taxpayer's revenue job assist application indicated that her job would last for ten months. The inspector explained the position to the taxpayer who indicated that she would request her employer to extend the period of her employment to 12 months. The inspector sent the taxpayer an application form to enable her to make a fresh application. When that application is received, the inspector will review the matter to determine whether the taxpayer is eligible for the revenue job assist tax credit.
