448 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the extent to which agreement has been reached between the various parties regarding the provision of the proposed new Garda station at Leixlip, County Kildare; the extent, scale and nature of the facilities now proposed; if the station is likely to be state of the art in terms of technology and layout; the position in regard to planning, contract and tender process; when he expects the station to be ready for occupation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

449 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if discussions have been finalised in regard to the provision of a new Garda station at Leixlip, County Kildare; the extent of the facilities likely to be provided; the position in regard to tender or contract; when it is expected the new station will be commissioned; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2670/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 440, 448 and 449 together.

It is proving difficult to complete the negotiations on the purchase of a site at Leixlip. Every effort continues to be made to bring the matter to a satisfactory conclusion. Until this stage is reached, it is not possible to give a timetable for the construction of the new Garda station.
