355 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when his Department received an application form for naturalisation from a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; when the application will be dealt with; and the position in this regard. [4315/02]
An application for a certificate of naturalisation from the person referred to by the Deputy was submitted to my Department in June 2001. The average processing time for an application for naturalisation is 15 months and it is therefore likely that the application of the person referred to in the Deputy's question will be finalised in the second half of this year. As soon as I have reached a decision on the matter, both the applicant and the Deputy will be informed of the outcome.
