Vol. 548 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

191 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the grants which were approved at the December 2001 meeting of Údarás na Gaeltachta; if these grants have been taken up; the details of the grants approved; the names of the persons who attended the meeting; if there was a vote on grant approval for projects at the meetings; and if so, the details of the voting. [5235/02]

I refer the Deputy to my response to Question No. 886 on 30 January 2002.

It is not and has not been the practice for any Minister to ask State boards for details of specific board meetings such as those set out in the question. The manner in which Údarás na Gaeltachta arrives at specific decisions is a matter for itself within the normal guidelines for the proper governance of State bodies.

I understand it is the case that attendance at board meetings of Údarás na Gaeltachta includes all or most board members as well as a number of members of its management and executive who assist the board in carrying out its functions.

Information on projects which are approved are published in due course and those which proceed are published in the annual report of Údarás na Gaeltachta.
