Vol. 549 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Andrew Boylan

Ceist:

134 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when payment of a brucellosis grant will be made to a person (details supplied). [6341/02]

The appropriate valuation compensation and depopulation grants have been processed for payment by my Department's district veterinary office and will shortly issue to the person concerned. An explanatory letter outlining the basis for these payments will be sent separately from the district veterinary office.

Andrew Boylan

Ceist:

135 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the delay in issuing a payment to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this person did not receive payment for the year 2001; and if payment will be made forthwith. [6342/02]

The person named applied for premium for five animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. Payment of his full entitlement has been made under this scheme. I understand that he was not an applicant under the 2001 area-based compensatory allowance scheme and as a result no payments under this scheme have issued to him. However, I have asked my officials to examine this matter again and to inform the person named of the outcome.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

136 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received an area based payment. [6346/02]

As stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 331 of 30 January 2002, the person named furnished an incomplete 2001 area aid application in that he did not include maps for two new parcels of land on which he is claiming area aid. The herd owner was contacted in order to clarify the precise location of these particular parcels of land. The information which he provided has been entered on to the Department's electronic database and the application has now been fully processed with no errors. Payment due under the 2001 area-based compensatory allowance scheme will issue shortly.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

137 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason an area aid payment for 2001 has not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; if a payment will be made to this person; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6399/02]

To be eligible for the 2001 area-based disadvantaged areas compensatory allowance scheme, an applicant must farm and occupy a minimum of three hectares of forage land in a disadvantaged area. According to the 2001 area aid application submitted by the person named, he has no land in a disadvantaged area, and consequently no disadvantaged areas compensatory allowance payment can be made to him. The person named submitted one application for special beef premium on 29 November 2001, in respect of seven animals. The application has been processed to payment stage and an 80% advance payment will issue in early March.

John Perry

Ceist:

138 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a decision will be made on a REP scheme appeal by a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6415/02]

My Department received a request for a review of a decision to impose a penalty for late application on 11 February 2002. By letter dated 21 February 2002, he was notified that his appeal was accepted.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

139 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a second depopulation grant payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [6458/02]

A payment for the appropriate further depopulation grants, in relation to an extension of the rest period between January and April 2002, has now issued to the person concerned.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

140 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a suckler cow premium payment will be made to persons (details supplied) in County Limerick. [6460/02]

This case involves an application for premium for 39 animals under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. The application is going through the final stage of processing and payment will issue within the next week.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

141 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of a 2001 suckler cow grant. [6473/02]

The person named will be paid his entitlement under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme and his full entitlement under the 2001 area based compensatory allowances scheme shortly.
