Vol. 550 No. 2

Written Answers. - Citizenship Applications.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

503 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will consider granting humanitarian leave to remain here to a person and their family (details supplied) in Dublin 15 in view of the person's circumstances. [7973/02]

The persons in question have been granted permission to remain in the State on the basis of their parentage of an Irish citizen child. The question of granting leave to remain on other grounds, including humanitarian ones, as an alternative to deportation does not therefore arise.

It is a matter for the Minister for Education and Science to determine what publicly funded educational entitlements should be made available to persons under such circumstances.
