Ceist:107 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will permit the transfer of tonnage allotted from one fishing vessel to another (details supplied). [8286/02]
Written Answers. - Tonnage Transfer.
When the individual concerned has complied with registration requirements in respect of the fishing vessel, its capacity – tonnage and engine power – may be used towards the introduction of another fishing vessel. Any resultant shortfall in capacity between the two vessels will, however, also have to be removed from the fishing boat register before the replacement vessel can be licensed and registered. A new sea fishing boat licence application is required to be submitted in respect of the replacement vessel.
