Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Farm Waste Management.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

182 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a tax assessment certificate to 31 December 2001 will not suffice for eligibility under the scheme of investment aid for farm waste management; if he will change the regulation in relation to this scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9773/02]

One of the conditions of the scheme of investment aid for farm waste management is that an agreed assessment of tax liability issued by the Revenue Commissioners showing all income for the tax year prior to application should, as far as possible, be furnished with the application form. For farmers currently making applications under this scheme the previous tax year runs from 5 April 2001 to the 31 December 2001. An agreed assessment of tax liability to end December 2001 would suffice, therefore, in the context of an application being made at present.
