389 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the solicitors or barristers who were appointed since 26 June 1997, as members or chairpersons of any board or committee or other body, advisers, consultants, or as holders of any other position or office other than judicial office, under the aegis of or in her Department; the name of the person in each case; if he or she is a solicitor or barrister; the position to which the person was appointed; the date of appointment; the date the person ceased to hold the position if applicable; the remuneration paid since 26 July 1997; and if the holding of particular legal qualifications or experience was a requirement for the position in question. [9801/02]

The Deputy will be aware that when making appointments to the boards under their aegis, Ministers seek to appoint members of the public who have a broad range of experience that will enable them to carry out the work of the board. Within this context, my Department's records indicate that the appointees listed possess qualifications of the type described by the Deputy.

RTE AuthorityBroadcasting Complaints Commission: Ms Oonagh McCrann, a barrister, was appointed to chair the Commission on 6 September 2000 and her term of office will cease on 5 September 2005. She receives no remuneration for this position. Ms Kay Cogan-Daly, a solicitor was appointed a member of the Commission on 6 September 2000 and her term of office will cease on 5 September 2003. She receives no remuneration for this position.

Marsh's Library Governors and GuardiansMr. Patrick Kilroy is a Solicitor and was appointed on 26 June 1997. He receives no remuneration. Mr. Ronan Keane is a Chief Justice and was appointed an ex-officio member in 1999. He receives no remuneration.

Chester Beatty Library Board of TrusteesMs Elizabeth Maguire is a Barrister and was appointed on 21 May 2001. She receives no remuneration.

Irish Museum of Modern ArtLegal qualifications or experience were not requirements in any of the positions outlined.
