Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

137 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the case where a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 has been refused admission to the Mater Hospital, Dublin 7, on four different occasions since Christmas 2001; if his Department will investigate with the hospital the reason there has been a notable increase in the number of elderly patients being refused admission to this hospital; the number of step-down facilities available to the hospital; the number of nursing home places available to the hospital; and if he will seek an immediate assurance that this type of scenario will be halted at once. [10735/02]

Responsibility for the provision of health services to persons living in County Dublin rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the regional chief executive of the Authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to her directly.
