Vol. 552 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Development Plan.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

101 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 398 of 17 April 2002, the reason no general practitioner funding was provided to the Eastern Regional Health Authority in 2000; and the element of the NDP funding allocated to the ERHA in 2001 and 2002 for the purpose of general practitioner development. [12745/02]

Allocations of primary care development funding in 2000 were made on the basis of perceived need, having due regard to the levels of funding provided to health boards for such developments in previous years.

Funding for each health board-ERHA under the National Development Plan was drawn up at the launch of the plan for the major health care programmes covering the period 2000-2006. This includes provision for the community health programme, of which general practice developments are a part. My Department does not, as a matter of routine, collate the funding details sought, so I have referred the matter to the regional chief executive of the ERHA and asked him to reply directly to the Deputy.
