Vol. 553 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Joan Burton

Ceist:

228 Ms Burton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will establish an independent board for the James Connolly Memorial Hospital as exists for other major Dublin hospitals, such as Tallaght and Beaumont; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the development of the hospital is seriously curtailed by the absence of such a board. [14913/02]

Services for eligible patients at James Connolly Memorial Hospital are provided under an arrangement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority.

My Department has, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to consider the suggestion by the Deputy with regard to the governance arrangements for the hospital and to reply to her directly on this matter.
