Vol. 553 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Recognition.

Paul Nicholas Gogarty

Ceist:

104 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for Education and Science the situation regarding the provision of temporary recognition to Griffeen Valley Educate Together school; his plans to ensure that the children enrolled in this school will be guaranteed a place in a Lucan school in September should it not be provided with recognition in time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14620/02]

My Department is at an advanced stage in processing an application from the patron body Educate Together for a new primary school in Griffeen. Regular liaison is being maintained with the applicants. Provided some outstanding matters regarding interim accommodation arrangements can be resolved, I should be in a position to grant recognition to this school from September next.

My officials are monitoring primary school provision in the Lucan area on an ongoing basis. In particular, they are monitoring the demand for school places emanating from the new housing developments in the Griffeen area.
