Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

1684 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be awarded a retirement old age contributory pension; if so, when; and if not, if this person is eligible for a non-contributory pension. [16079/02]

The person concerned does not qualify for an old age contributory or retirement pension as he does not satisfy the necessary contribution conditions. According to my Department's record he has a total of only 27 employment contributions paid or credited since first entering social insurance in 1954. This person concerned was advised of the position in March of this year.

The person concerned has been receiving old age non-contributory pension at the maximum personal rate since May 2000, the present weekly rate of which is €134.00.
