Ceist:

1088 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the position with the cardiac unit in Galway; if the construction of the unit has commenced; when cardiac operations in Merlin Park Hospital will commence; and when the recruitment of staff for the unit will commence. [16347/02]

The development of cardiac services in Galway is a matter for the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to write directly to the Deputy with the information he has requested.
