Ceist:

1114 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Kerry will be called to Cork University Hospital for a knee replacement; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16520/02]

The provision of services in the case of the person named from County Kerry is the responsibility of the Southern Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply directly to the Deputy.

1116 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of people who are awaiting cataract surgery nationally; and the numbers in each health board area. [16541/02]

The total number of adults and children on public hospital in-patient waiting lists for ophthalmology procedures, as reported by the health agencies at 31 March 2002, the latest date for which figures are available, is 2,969. This figure is broken down by health board area as follows:
