Ceist:

295 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance the key performance indicators being used by his Department; the performance in respect of these for the past five years; and if a commentary is published on these performance indicators linking them to objectives and activities. [20307/02]

In accordance with the Public Service Management Act, 1997, the Department of Finance has set out its strategic priorities, high level objectives, and associated performance indicators for the past five years in the following publications: Statement of Strategy, published in March 1997; Statement of Strategy 1998-2000, published in April 1998; and Statement of Strategy 2001-2003, published in March 2001.

Commentary on the progress made in achieving each of these strategic priorities and their related objectives, including commentary in relation to performance indicators, has been set out in the following publications: Progress Report on the Department's Statement of Strategy, published in September 1999; Second Progress Report on the Department's Statement of Strategy for the year ending April 2000, published in September 2000; Progress Report on the Department's Statement of Strategy for the Year 2000, published in July 2001; and Progress Report on the Department's Statement of Strategy for the Year 2001, published in May 2002.
