Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Foreshore Leases.

David Stanton

Ceist:

463 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the interest the State or his Department has in the former site on which a company (details supplied) operated; his plans for any such interest; the values and liabilities attached to any such interest; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20557/02]

My Department's involvement with this matter centres on a lease granted in 1996 under the Foreshore Acts in respect of part of the overall site occupied by the company in question. The liquidator of this company has instituted legal proceedings under company law seeking to be permitted to disclaim the lease on grounds that it contains onerous conditions. As the matter is before the courts at present, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further at this point.

Ceist:

464 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the interest his Department or the State has in the site occupied by a company (details supplied) in County Cork; his plans for any such interest; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20558/02]

My Department's interest in this matter relates only to areas of foreshore that were leased to the Port of Cork Company and subsequently sub-let to the company concerned. The position in relation to the leases in question is being reviewed in light of recent events.
