Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ciarán Cuffe

Ceist:

465 Mr. Cuffe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the extent of Government support, namely public funds, through BIM, the Marine Institute and Údarás na Gaeltachta given to a company (details supplied), which does not even have a license, for a questionable conservation initiative; and the reason no environmental impact assessment has taken place. [20636/02]

Last year, the Marine Institute provided a financial contribution of £500 to the company in respect of technology transfer. No funding has been provided by BIM. I have no function in regard to Údarás na Gaeltachta.

The project in question is a small scale, non-commercial research initiative. In the event that it is proposed to expand it or to operate on a commercial basis, it will be subjected to the licensing provisions of the Fisheries Acts.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

466 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the grant aid available from his Department to refurbish an old style cottage (details supplied) in County Cork. [19841/02]

My Department does not operate any schemes under which assistance could be provided for the type of project outlined in the Deputy's question.
