Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Seymour Crawford

Ceist:

685 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when his Department passed on the compulsory purchase order in relation to the Castleblaney bypass to An Bord Pleanála; and if there is a time limit which the Board has to deal with cases such as this; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20217/02]

Monaghan County Council submitted this compulsory purchase order to my Department for confirmation on 19 December 2000. Under the Planning and Development Act, 2000, the functions of the Minister for the Environment and Local Government in relation to the determination of compulsory purchase orders were transferred to An Bord Pleanála with effect from 1 January 2001. The determination of this order is a matter for An Bord Pleanála. The objective in the 2000 Act of dealing with CPOs within a period of 18 weeks does not apply to CPOs which had been received in the Department prior to 1 January 2001. Further information in relation to the progress of this CPO may appropriately be sought from An Bord Pleanála.
