Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Spatial Strategy.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

694 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has now completed his discussions on the national spatial strategy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20297/02]

Work on drafting the national spatial strategy is continuing, with full account being taken in this process of the many different points raised in the submissions received in response to the public consultations held in relation to the strategy. In drafting the strategy, my Department is also addressing the spatial aspects of a wide range of economic, social and environmental policies. This has necessarily involved extensive ongoing liaison with other Departments, agencies and bodies with primary responsibility for these policies.

Preparation of the national spatial strategy is now nearing conclusion. Its drafting is currently being finalised with a view to its publication as soon as possible.
