Written Answers. - Community Development.

Charlie O'Connor

Ceist:

719 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if his attention has been drawn to the serious difficulties being experienced by the Jobstown all-weather facility in Dublin 24 which was provided with public moneys; if his attention has further been drawn to the need to properly complete this important project for the community and provide for the management and security of the facility; if he will liaise with South Dublin County Council in the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20192/02]

I am aware of the difficulties being experienced by the Jobstown all-weather facility in Dublin 24, which has received funding of €444,408, £350,000, under the young peoples facilities and services fund. My Department, through the national assessment committee of the fund, is in discussions with South Dublin County Council about the difficulties and about the future management of the facility. In addition, I understand that the project received an allocation of £120,000, €152,400 under the 2000 sports capital programme which is operated by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism. It will be open to the project to apply for additional funding under the 2003 sports capital programme when it is advertised.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

720 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if the Listowel, County Kerry, rural area will be considered for inclusion in the extended CLÁR programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20227/02]

An Agreed Programme for Government contains a commitment to review the census data and consider additional areas for inclusion. I have commissioned the National Institute for Regional and Spatial Analysis at NUI, Maynooth, to analyse the 2002 population census data to assist me in reviewing the CLÁR areas. I expect the review will be completed by the end of 2002.
