Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Census of Population.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

129 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Taoiseach the population figures for each of the local authority wards in Dublin City and County, revealing the population found within these wards at the recent census; and the way in which this compares to the population on the basis of which the boundaries of these wards were last decided, showing in each case the percentage increase or decrease of population in the intervening period. [19723/02]

The information requested by the Deputy is contained in table 2 – pages 19-23 – of the preliminary report of the 2002 Census of Population. A copy of the report will be forwarded to the Deputy. The information can also be downloaded from the CSO's website www.cso.ie.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

130 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Taoiseach when regional census information will be made available for a region (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19774/02]

The Central Statistics Office published the preliminary report of the 2002 census in July 2002, three months after census day. This report, a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library, contains population totals classified by sex for each of the electoral divisions in the State. The regional summary contained in the report covers the region specified by the Deputy.

The office is on target to complete the data capture phase of census 2002 by the end of April 2003, that is, within a year of census day. This involves the processing of over 1.35 million census forms. It is planned to make the definitive demographic results available by the middle of 2003. This will include results for the region indicated by the Deputy.
