Vol. 557 No. 1

Written Answers. - Mental Health Services.

Pat Breen

Ceist:

353 Mr. P. Breen asked the Minister for Health and Children if an Alzheimer's facility for patients will be included in relation to the Stella Maris Nursing Home in Lisdoonvarna, County Clare, in which day care facilities will be provided in the north Clare area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21247/02]

Responsibility for the provision of health services in County Clare is a matter for the Mid-Western Health Board. The question of the purchase and refurbishment of the Stella Maris Nursing Home in Lisdoonvarna is under discussion at present. It is intended to provide day centre services for the elderly in the north County Clare area on the site of the former Stella Maris Nursing Home. Some of the potential users may have dementia difficulties. The board is also exploring the possibility of providing a number of other services on the site.
