Vol. 557 No. 1

Written Answers. - Light Rail Project.

Charlie O'Connor

Ceist:

378 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Transport if he will confirm his commitment to provide a Luas link from Heuston Station to Connolly Station to cater for those many commuters who will wish to avail of such a service. [21096/02]

The provision of Luas services between Heuston and Connolly Stations, connecting with mainline and suburban rail services forms part of an overall strategy of integrating the various public transport systems to the optimal extent. Work on construction of the Tallaght to Connolly Station light rail line, involving a stop at Heuston Station, is well advanced. Significant progress has taken place to date including utilities diversion, construction of the Red Cow depot and delivery of all of the trams for the line. Major works still to be completed include completion of track laying, installation of overhead wiring and works at the ramp at Connolly Station.
