170 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the latest information available to his Department on the extent of the outbreak of the fatal virus that is leading to the death of many seals; if he has received a request for financial assistance from the Irish Seal Sanctuary arising from the outbreak; his plans to provide assistance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer to the reply to Questions Nos. 422 and 439 of 5 November 2002 and to Questions Nos. 654 and 657 of 12 November 2002. No new cases of phocine distemper virus have been identified in Irish waters.
