Vol. 559 No. 1

Written Answers. - Residency Permits.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

396 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding an application for citizenship (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25824/02]

An application for a certificate of naturalisation from the person referred to in the Deputy's question was received in the citizenship section of my Department on 6 February 1998. On 29 June 1999, the applicant was notified that his application was approved subject to the completion of certain formalities. Those formalities were not completed by the applicant and have not been completed to date.

Because of the lapse of time since the initial approval of this application, the applicant was advised by letter on 13 December 2001 that it might be necessary to resubmit his application to me for confirmation of the decision to grant a certificate of naturalisation. He was requested at that time to provide certain documentation which he has not done to date. As soon as the person in question provides copies of the requested documentation, further consideration will be given to the matter.
