34 Ms Lynch asked the Minister for Defence the reason for the reduction of 19% in the allo cation for military training in his Department's estimates for 2003; the implications of this cutback for the training of personnel; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26063/02]
In 2002 financial provision was made for substantial expenditure in relation to the purchase of specialist training equipment. This provision came to over €1 million. This provision is not included in the 2002 Abridged Estimate. It should be noted, however, that additional resources have been provided in 2003 to meet the increased cost of training courses.
