Vol. 559 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

204 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has purchased a site for the construction of a new school (details supplied) in County Cork; if students at the school are being taught in unacceptable conditions; when he expects the board of management of this school will be contacted by his Department with regard to the evaluation of tenders for the construction of a new school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26432/02]

A site has been purchased by my Department and tenders for the provision of a new school building at the school referred to by the Deputy have been received in my Department. My Department will communicate its decision to the school management authorities as soon as possible.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

205 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Education and Science the cost of each primary school building project for which tenders have been received by his Department (details supplied); when the tender documentation was received by his Department; the original estimate for each project; when funding will be approved for each project; when construction will start; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26433/02]

It is not the practice of my Department to indicate the cost of primary school buildings for which tenders have been sought. The Deputy will appreciate that to do so in advance of awarding a contract would compromise the tendering process. I will publish my Department's expenditure proposals in the new year. In the meantime, it is not possible at this point to say when construction will commence on individual projects.
