Ceist:

400 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the security problems being experienced at Scoil Santain, Avonmore Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24, where there have been a number of burglaries recently; if he will ask his officials to make contact with the management board in the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Ceist:

425 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will acknowledge the urgent need to proceed with the works at Scoil Santain, Tallaght, Dublin 24; the position in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1629/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 400 and 425 together.

The 2003 capital programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that provision has been made in this year's programme for a smaller scale project to improve security at Scoil Santain. My Department's building unit will be in touch with the school as soon as possible regarding this matter.
The large scale refurbishment-extension project at Scoil Santain is at an early stage of architectural planning. On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include it in the new projects to start construction in 2003. This project will be considered again in the context of the 2004 capital programme.
