44 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo who has speech and language difficulties and dyslexia will be provided with extra hours tuition from the resource teacher; the position in this regard; and when this person will receive the tuition hours they need. [2199/03]
My Department sanctioned two and a half hours resource teaching support per week for the pupil in question in August 2002.
Responsibility for putting this support service in place rests with the authorities of the school in question. Recently the school principal contacted my Department in relation to difficulties being encountered in securing a suitable candidate to deliver the service. The principal has been advised to liaise with the local school inspector for the area regarding this matter.
