87 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism when a grant under the sports capital programme will be awarded to Shiven Rovers Football Club, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3090/03]
A grant of €148,000 was provisionally allocated to the club in question under the 2002 sports capital programme towards the construction of dressing rooms and development of playing pitches. Tender documentation submitted by the club is being considered by my Department's technical advisers, the Office of Public Works, who have requested additional documentation from the club, which is still outstanding. When this has been received and approved, the club will be given permission to proceed with the project. Payment of the grant will then be possible when, as work progresses, invoices or payment certificates in respect of the project are submitted by the club's architect and approved for payment by my Department.
