Vol. 562 No. 5

Written Answers - Foreign Conflicts.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

225 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the contacts he has had, official and non-official, with representatives of the US Government concerning the issue of Iraq and Ireland's position regarding a possible war in Iraq; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5421/03]

Since this crisis began, I have met, on various occasions, the Secretary of State, Mr. Powell, Secretary of State for Health, Mr. Thompson, the ambassador, Mr. Haass, and the US Ambassador to Ireland. I explained the Government's position in relation to Iraq during these meetings, which has been presented to the Dáil on a regular basis.
