130 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Finance the award which has been granted to secretarial assistants to Members of the Houses of the Oireachtas under the benchmarking agreement; and when they will receive payment of same. [9645/03]
Secretarial assistants have traditionally been linked for pay purposes to the grade of clerical officer in the Civil Service. Accordingly, they will receive the same award as clerical officers, i.e. 8.5%. Payments will be made in accordance with the phasing arrangements provided for in Sustaining Progress, i.e. 25% of the award with effect from 1 December 2001, 50% from 1 January 2004 and 25% from 1 June 2005.
