Ceist:

272 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called to the Merlin Park Hospital for a hip operation in view of the fact that they are in severe pain and urgently need this operation. [9637/03]

The provision of medical services in this case is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position and to reply directly to the Deputy.
