73 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason there has been a recoupment of moneys already paid under the EU farm retirement pension scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10481/03]
The person named is not a participant in the early retirement scheme. Difficulties arose, however, in relation to his participation in the rural environment protection scheme, resulting in my Department seeking partial recoupment of moneys paid. My Department is currently considering an appeal against this decision from the person named and he will be informed directly of the outcome in the near future. Pending the outcome of the appeal, no further moneys are being recouped from the person named.
