Richard Bruton

Ceist:

313 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the sources of information, advice, assessment and back-up which are available to parents of children in the autistic spectrum in Dublin 9 and 15; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10882/03]

Responsibility for the provision of services to persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Dublin 9 and 15 areas is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the regional chief executive officer of the Authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.

John Bruton

315 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children when the report by the Health Research Board in respect of research into autism and its possible links with gastro-intestinal dysfunction will be available in view of the fact that parents of children with autism are interested in availing of this service and research for their children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10884/03]

The research project into autism referred to is ongoing. It is concerned with persons over the age of 16 years and individuals with autism are still being recruited for inclusion in this research project. Contact details for interested persons are being forwarded to the Deputy.
