Vol. 567 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Jerry Cowley

Ceist:

233 Dr. Cowley asked the Minister for Education and Science the decision his Department has come to regarding the proposed multidenominational school at Ballina, County Mayo; the reason Scoil na gCeithre Maol, Ballina, has been only granted provisional recognition since 1998; when this matter will be properly addressed by his Department or the Commission on School Accommodation or the new schools advisory committee; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13421/03]

Following consideration of the report and recommendations of the new schools advisory committee on the recognition of new primary schools for 2003, I have decided to approve the application for a new multidenominational school in Ballina, County Mayo, with effect from September. Over the next few days my officials will contact the proposers.

My Department is considering an application from Scoil na gCeithre Maol, Ballina. A decision in the matter will be notified to its authorities as soon as possible.
