Vol. 567 No. 5

Written Answers. - Passport Applications.

Billy Timmins

Ceist:

228 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the position in relation to a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow who has applied for an Irish passport for their child; the advice he can provide in this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14608/03]

My Department has no record of receipt of a passport application for the child in question. Inquiries made by the Irish embassy in Kuala Lumpur have established that the birth record has since been corrected and now gives the father's nationality as Irish. As the persons in question appear to be resident in Thailand, a passport application for the child should be made either through the Irish honorary consul in Bangkok or directly to the Irish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
