177 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the proposed secondary school for Newport, County Mayo; the position in relation to the review that was being carried out; if a decision has been made on it; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14826/03]
The position in regard to Newport is that I intend that the review will include a transparent consultative process in relation to the planning of future educational development in the surrounding post-primary school catchment areas. The process will be aimed at obtaining the observations of all interested parties before a final decision is made in relation to the optimal configuration of education provision in the general area of County Mayo, including Newport. I will be announcing the detailed arrangements for this review process shortly.
